Dear Friends of St. Mark’s:

As Christians, we are called through our baptism to live and serve our Lord as stewards of God’s Kingdom and all Creation.  One of the prayers in our Book of Common Prayer outlines this vocation we all share.

Almighty God, whose loving hand has given us all that we possess: Grant us grace that we may honor you with our substance, and, remembering the account which we must one day give, may be faithful stewards of your bounty, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  (page 827)

As a fellowship of Christians, we at St. Mark’s have a shared calling to support the mission of our parish as we seek to make Christ known and to bring our Lord’s mercy and grace to all who seek them.  As part of the Vestry’s stewardship of St. Mark’s future, they have adopted three primary goals for 2012.

  • Provide funds for day-to-day operations of the Parish, for the Associate for Youth Formation, and for funding of the search process and cost of new rector’s move, and compensation for approximately 1/4th of 2012.

  • Provide the necessary funds to make repairs and upgrades to our current facilities to better serve the parish needs.

  • Increase our commitment to Outreach through encouraging greater personal participation and financial contributions for Outreach projects such as Dream Builders and the Church of the Guardian Angel.

The budget for these items is approximately $425,000.

Working with the Junior Warden, the vestry has identified several projects for 2012 to make our facilities more useful and comfortable. As part of creating this bridge to the future, our highest priority is providing a safer and more inviting environment for our ministry with children and teens. These projects are:

    • Improvements to the Sunday School classrooms,  including lighting and ventilation

    • Upgrades to the kitchen

    • Cost-saving conversion to natural gas for our boilers

    • Repaving and re-lining parking lots

    • Repairs to the Parish Hall roof and interior ceiling.

The estimated cost for the above projects is approximately $50,000+.  These capital investments are in addition to the 2012 program/ministry budget of $425,000. The total amount required to support normal operations plus perform needed facilities improvements is $475,000.

To help support our goals for 2012, we ask that you prayerfully consider increasing your 2012 giving by $10 per week, if you are able. If each giver adds $10 to their weekly contribution, we can achieve all the above goals.  As the pledge form suggests, please make a pledge to St. Mark’s program budget and then indicate the additional support you plan to give to our capital expense budget.

You may make your pledge online here or by downloading this form and mailing it to the church office or placing it in the offering plate during a church service. To help our planning for next year, please submit your pledge by December 1.

Thank you for your faithful support of St. Mark’s.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact a member of the committee, or John Price (Interim).

Grace and peace be unto you.
