Madeleine+ first came to St. Mark's as a diaconal intern in 2005, and was ordained Deacon and appointed to St. Mark's in June, 2006.
Deacons are non-stipendiary, ordained leaders, who inspire and lead the Church to serve the world, and who bring the world to the Church. At St. Mark's Madeleine works primarily with the Outreach and Pastoral Care Committees and hopes to encourage, inspire, and equip you for ministry to the whole world outside our red doors!
For more information about the ministry of deacons, visit the Diocese of Maryland Deacons' website.

Give rest, O Christ, to your servants with the saints: where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting. You only are immortal, the creator and maker of all: and we are mortal, formed from the dust of the earth, and unto earth shall we return. For so you ordained when you created me, saying: 'Dust you are and to dust you shall return.' All of us go down to the dust, yet weeping at the grave, we make our song:
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
The complete list of names we have read since the summer of 2007 can be found here and of all the casualties at Honor the Fallen, a website of Military Times.
Prepare boxes for those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Check anysoldier.com for information on how and what to send. The Post Office now has special boxes marked APO and domestic rates apply.

The world is at the halfway point for the Millennium Development Goals. With Debi Frock, head of Ghanaian Mothers' Hope, I spent September 25 in New York at the United Nations in witness and at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in worship.
To learn more about how the Diocese of Maryland contributes to the Millennium Development Goals, visit the Diocese's Global Mission website. St. Mark's contributes directly through the work of DreamBuilders in Panama and Guatemala, when we "fill the ark," and through the vestry's .07% financial contribution. To learn more about the September 25 activites, go to E4GR's Sept 25 website.
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me [...] Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me." Matthew 25:35-36, 40b
