Madeleine+ first came to St. Mark's as a diaconal intern in 2005, and was ordained Deacon and appointed to St. Mark's in June, 2006.
Deacons are non-stipendiary, ordained leaders, who inspire and lead the Church to serve the world, and who bring the world to the Church. At St. Mark's Madeleine works primarily with the Outreach and Pastoral Care Committees and hopes to encourage, inspire, and equip you for ministry to the whole world outside our red doors!
For more information about the ministry of deacons, visit the Diocese of Maryland Deacons' website.
We remember all those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan..
We remember all those coalition forces who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.
We also remember all those Iraqis and Afghanis whose names are known not to us but to God.
Give rest, O Christ, to your servants with the saints: where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting. You only are immortal, the creator and maker of all: and we are mortal, formed from the dust of the earth, and unto earth shall we return. For so you ordained when you created me, saying: 'Dust you are and to dust you shall return.' All of us go down to the dust, yet weeping at the grave, we make our song:
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Here at St. Mark's we participate in the Millennium Development Goals:
In 2009 we collected $900.00, enough for 75 nets, for the Diocesan Lenten Project, Nets for Life. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
We collected $342.74 for Heifer International. The Outreach Committee purchased goats, bees and bunnies.
We have a ministry with St. Luke's school in Ghana. The priest at St. Lukes Church School in Accra is Fr. Victor. We help with school fees and school supplies.
In 2009 Outreach sent $2000 of St. Mark's MDG contribution to the school.

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me [...] Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one
of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me." Matthew 25:35-36, 40
Our Ministry with Guardian Angel
We continue to collect food and clothing for the at-risk population in Baltimore served by the Church of the Guardian Angel. They especially need canned tuna, peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti sauce, canned soups, meats, fruits and vegetables, jello and cold cereal. The food pantry is distributing food to more than 50 families and individuals every week.
The Stitchers are kniting and crocheting hats, scarfs, and lap robes.
The Homework Club can use both school supplies and volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, the Homework Club meets Monday afternoon. Mentors and tutors are needed. To volunteer, please call Alice Jellima+, rector of Guardian Angel at 410-235-5740.
The Thrift Shop at Guardian Angel can use clean, used clothes. Please not too out of date. Also, small appliances and furniture. The money raised through sales at the Thrift Shop are used to purchase food for the food pantry from the Food Bank. You can contribute to Guardian Angel's Food Bank purchases by putting money in the Globe Bank on the Coffee Hour Table or by writing a check to St. Mark's with Outreach Guardian Angel on the memo line. The Thrift Shop is open Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm.
If you are interested in particpating in this ministry, see Beth Trollinger, Allie Mitchell, or Madeleine+. If you are interested in helping deliver the food to Guardian Angel, please talk to Allie Mitchell.
The eyes of all wait upon you, O Lord, and you give them their food in due season. You open wide your hand and satisfy the needs of every living creature. Psalm 145:16-17
