Sacraments |
Christian Sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace given by Christ. Grace is God's favor toward us, unearned and undeserved. By grace God forgives our sins, enlightens our minds, stirs our hearts, and strengthens our wills. The two great sacraments given by Christ to his Church are Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
BAPTISM
The Sacrament of Baptism is usually administered four times a year: At the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord in Wintertime, at the Easter Vigil in the Spring, at the Feast of Pentecost in Late Spring/Early Summer, and at the Feast of All Saints in the Fall. Adult candidates and their sponsors and parents of children and other sponsors (sometimes called "God Parents") participate in Baptismal instruction together. Click here for more information about Christian baptism.
HOLY COMMUNION
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered in our Eucharistic services, every Sunday morning and at other special occasions. All Christians are invited to receive Communion. We send forth Eucharistic visitors from our worship to take Holy Communion to the sick and home bound. To request Communion by visitation, please contact the church office.

Other Sacraments
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is always administered by the Bishop (occasion to be announced). Adults, young adults (16 years of age or older) and their sponsors participate in Confirmation instruction together.
MARRIAGE
The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony is administered by the clergy of the Church, after appropriate prenuptial instruction (usually 6 sessions w/clergy). Either the bride or groom must be a practicing Episcopalian. Regular church attendance is required for all couples living in the area, or at their home church if living in another area.
Click here for more information about Christian weddings.
CONFESSION / RECONCILIATION
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available to anyone who desires it on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, or by appointment with the clergy. Contact clergy to arrange confession.
UNCTION (LAYING ON OF HANDS) FOR HEALING
Unction is the rite of anointing the sick with oil, or the laying on of hands, by which God's grace is given for the healing of spirit, mind, and body. It is offered during the Prayers of the People at our Eucharistic services, or on other occasions by appointment.
HOLY ORDERS
Holy Orders (Ordination) is the rite in which God gives authority and the grace of the Holy Spirit to those being made bishops, priests, and deacons, through prayer and the laying on of hands by bishops.
