Encounter God through the classic spiritual discipline of Pilgrimage

One of the central spiritual disciplines of Christian faith (as well as all the major religions) is pilgrimage, or "sacred journey." Pilgrims are working out, in a physical way, their desire to journey deeper into God. Just as we seek inner cleansing with physical water (baptism), and spiritual nourishment with physical br/ead and wine, so the pilgrim seeks a spiritual journey by moving long and hard across physical space. Our prayer for these pilgrimages extend way beyond our need for peace and safety -- we pray for another deep encounter with a dangerous God!

For a good article about the spiritual discipline of pilgrimage, see Spiritual Journey and Pilgrimage. For Rick's account of his 2006 pilgrimage, see A Pilgrim Returns

Come deepen your faith with us -- as St Marks and friends travel together to study and explore ancient spiritual sites. Future pilgrimages may include Israel, Celtic Christian sites, Rome, Constantinople, Ephesus, Athens and other sites both locally and abroad. Early Christianity, May 2008
