Lisa says, We've been working fast and furious to put together our 2009 mission program. We will launch it at our general information meeting on Sunday February 8 2-4pm at Temple Isaiah (on Rt 216 in Fulton). This is our 8th year and we are very excited about our plans. Here is a little preview. Our first mission trip will be back to Biloxi in May. We'll work again with the Habitat for Humanity (HfH) Mississippi Gulf Coast. That trip will be May 25-30. We expect this trip to be predominantly adults and college students (min age is 16). There is a new volunteer center this year (in Ocean Springs), but we've heard it is of the same caliber as the old volunteer center. We have 40 spaces reserved. Cost is $550. Trip 2 will be our first major out of country mission trip. We will be going to Panama June 20-30 to build Habitat homes. You must currently be in 11th grade or older to join this trip. We plan to take about 40 missioners on this trip. Cost is $1000. Trip 3 will be working with The Timothy Project for Missions in Madison County NC (near Asheville) June 28-July 3. We can take about 100 missioners on this trip. You must have completed 9th grade to join this trip. Cost to be determined by the meeting on the 8th. Trip 4 will be back to our original DreamBuilders destination, HfH Almost Heaven in Franklin, WVa. We'll do some type of blitz build the week of Aug 2-8. This trip is also for our missioners who have completed 9th grade. Cost to be determined by the meeting on the 8th. Trip 5 is a little unique. The Ghanian Mothers' Hope organization is looking for 4-10 DreamBuilders to help build a home for the village nurse in a village in Ghana. Ghanian Mothers' Hope has built the infirmary and the Ghanian Government will provide a nurse 24/7 if a home is built. That trip is July 23-August 3 and is for missioners 18 and older. The cost is $3000 with a $500 deposit due on Feb 15. In addition to our mission trips, we will have spring and fall Arc projects. Our spring Arc project will be Feb 21-22 and then a weekend in March and a weekend in April. The project is a home for Arc children at 6489 Bright Plume in Columbia. This is off Cedar Lane and Owen Brown Rd. Feb 21 will be a demolition day and Feb 22 will be a framing day. We'll start at 8:30 am and end at 4 pm. The Arc projects are for teens who are in 7th grade or older and adults. It is a good way to get some training if you haven't been on a mission trip before. We are doing online registration this year for all of our mission trips. An an email will follow this one about registering for the Arc project. We really need you to register for the Arc project so we can manage details such as supplies and lunch. We'll launch the online registration for the mission trips after the meeting on Sunday, so more to come on that. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
